Ok storytime: I had a friend and that friend HATED Harrry Potter even tho he never watched it, so one day i said "truth or dare?" he said dare so i said he needed to watch Harry potter. (one day later..) he came to school and said: "i love Harry Potter!" when i said did you watch it. and it became a little sus..(so i decided to do something after lunch) i said: "Voldemort and Harry's friendship was so good!" and he said "i know right!!! and their parents where so good to each other!" i was like: "wth-" and then i knew he didn't watch harry potter :\

So I found that each unit of currency is worth a prime number of the preceding unit (17 and 29 are prime numbers). I wonder why JK chose to use prime numbers instead of composite numbers, so that you can have for example half a sickle and a quarter galleon. Or better yet, multiples of 7, aka that oh so magical number.

Have you ever thought about this? A wand only costs seven Galleons at Ollivander's. That's only around $46.50 (I use USD, feel free to look up what it is in a different currency). This is a powerful tool that can be used to do practically anything. It can even be used to kill or torture people. If you buy one wand, you're pretty much set for the rest of your life unless you lose or break yours.

Also, the prices in the wizarding world are kind of questionable. One pair of Omnioculars costs 10 Galleons. Why would a pair of magical binoculars cost more than a wand? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Others things that cost more than /the same amount as wands are owls (10-15 Galleons), cauldrons (15-25 Galleons) and crystal phials (7 Galleons).

It could be that JKR was trying to make wands cost 7 Galleons because that is the most powerful magical number or to make sure all students could get a wand.

What do you think? Are wands underpriced?
