In book 1, we see Voldequirrel drinking unicorn blood to live forever. Why didn't it work?
People dislike Hufflepuff because it is sorta the "miscellaneous" section of hogwarts. if someone is torn between the other 3 or doesnt fit in any of them, hufflepuff takes them in. In a sense, Hufflepuffs are the greatest hat stalls of all time
Ah, okay that makes much more sense. Thank you, Banshee!
Okay so I see what you're saying, but from Voldemort's point of view, living a cursed life is better than no life. Even though he wouldn't be a whole person, he should at least be able to exist consciously forever, right?

A horcrux stores someone's soul inside of any object. When the object gets separated into two separate parts, the soul piece cannot stay inside the object, and that part of the soul is destroyed.
If Harry had received a dementor's kiss, he would have been left with Voldemort's soul piece. The kids cannot physically harm his body enough to destroy a horcrux. HOWEVER, since the kiss only sucks out positivity and Voldemort doesn't have that. The horcrux would still be thriving inside Harry and it would potentially be able to control him.
If Harry had lost a limb on the other hand... that might have been enough to destroy it.
However, Harry had to die because part of HIS soul was in Voldemort (blood stealing ritual of book 4), and to get rid of it, it was necessary for him to die and have the entirety of his soul go to the Afterlife.
Scorpius is the only character with a literal curse which we learn was carried down from his mother
JK Rowling used Voldemort to represent Hitler and teach kids to feel empathy for those discriminated against. The similarities were probably more of a writing tool than a literal event.
