something that really ticks me off about the wizarding world, specifically ilvermorny, are its houses. they are all named after creatures from native american myths i believe, yet the founder isolt sayre, is white and seemingly there are 0 native american wizards in the entirety of the hp series and fantastic beasts who play even a supporting role. jk rowling really messed me up with this. can someone explain ?

although he is cunning, i wouldn’t say he’s ambitious. if lockhart was ambitious, he’d have the ambition to actually do things himself. he belongs in ravenclaw because he is very intelligent despite his malicious intent, as we see in CoS with his memory charms.
teddy had a good childhood, despite being an orphan, he had adult figures to rely on such as harry, ginny, hermione, ron and good peer company such as victoire.

when harry ron and hermione go down the trap door, one of the rooms has brooms and flying keys. the next room is a gigantic chess game. why didn’t they just use the brooms to fly over?? it could help with further rooms too like flying around the troll.
so we know that the wizarding world is incredibly more advanced than the muggle world in terms of medicine, which means they must have cures to diseases which are incurable to muggles like cancer and organ failures which account for millions of muggle deaths. do you think there has even been a debate by “muggle enthusiasts” in the ministry of magic to break or alter the statue of secrecy because people felt guilty about letting innocent muggles die?
a remembrall only tells you if you have forgotten something or not, so even if it worled, it wouldn’t be much help in that it wouldn’t tell them what exactly they’d forgotten
actually i think somewhere it says that pureblood supremacists who strongly believed in not breeding with muggles often intermarried-yuck. so yeah incest helped pureblood survive but eventually i’m assuming it got overrun by halfblood/muggleborns marrying pure bloods.
@Icecreamdif though i think it’s extremely unlikely that voldemort felt lust, i agree with you other statements. it’s possible he wanted a powerful heir to help him too
so since muggle studies is a class at hogwarts, why does it seem like most (pureblood) students are completely oblivious to the outside world, like ron when he demonstrates his very little knowledge of telephones and how to use them and how the slug club stares oddly at hermione when she says her parents are dentists? even arthur weasley, who went to hogwarts and works at the ministry is very unaware, he didn’t know what a rubber duck was. i’d assume ministry workers would at least have some knowledge of electricity and other technological advances of the muggles, as they have to protect the statue of secrecy constantly and interject with muggles who’ve clashed with magic.

no offense but i disagree with your theory because i don’t think dumbledore believed that whoever had the job would be in danger or that it was cursed/taboo or anything. i believe the main reason dumbledore kept snape away from dada was because he knew snape’s past history of mixing in with dark magic and death eaters before he became loyal to him so he didn’t want that happening again.

nice to have you back! :) in my opinion, tom riddle has the most tragic past because his started right from birth, he was unwanted by his grandfather, uncle, father, the only person who wanted him was his mother who died right away. he grew up different from the other kids at the orphanage because of his magic and while he did use it for mischief and bullying, it likely put a boundary between him and everyone else and isolated him. so yeah and i also really dislike snape tbh he did have a somewhat sad upbringing what with james bullying him but it doesn’t justify his choice to get mixed in w dark magic & call lily a mudblood just because she chose james over him. he’s the definition of those sad whiny boys who are like “wow i guess nice guys finish last” without realizing that he isn’t the nice guy and it’s lily’s choice to date whoever she fancies. wow that was long and pretty off topic lol

i apologize but i’m still a bit confused. do the participants of the task have to submit their own task room with its own challenges and such or do we have to present a solution to the original post with very clear descriptions of how we solve the challenge presented?

Paticipants are only meant to present their own room design in detail- including all magic used etc. The discussion section is meant to discuss elements of the magic used or the nature of the beasts etc included. Solving each room is actually NOT part of the first task and will recieve no Competition or House points- and while I'm not forbidding people to do it, is only allowed for a bit of fun.
The idea of the task is to be creative with your room and actually think about how the room might be achieved. Other members can then ask questions or raise points as to why certain spells or creatures might be used differently or improve on the basic design.
Julius is interested in a great design- which covers function and form- but he needs to know HOW to achieve the room. If you approached a car manufacturer and said you think it'd be a great idea to have a car that runs on water -that's great.. but you better be able to explain how it works or the manufacturer will throw you out on the street..

how do you think the story would change if james n lily chose to come back as ghosts so they could watch over harry and parent him?? please provide proper reasoning.
