I’m curious to hear what some thought are as to what is going on with Queenie Goldstein’s character in the upcoming Fantastic Beast Movie.
In the poster it says: Where about unknown... 😳
^^ absolutely!! 😍🤣
@Amanthebeast
Captainkaibyo is correct in his assertion that Hermione gives back the Time Turner at the end of the book “Prisoner of Azkaban”. She states, in the last chapter I believe, that it was too much to keep track of all the extra studies, so she dropped Muggle Studies, and Divination and returns to having a “normal” schedule. She told Harry and Ron that she gave the the Time Turner back to Professor McGonagall to return to the Ministry.
Then in “Order of the Phoenix” the case that holds the Turners in the Department of Mysteries was smashed causing it to “crash and mend” in succession for all eternity encased in an impenetrable shield of time. So, no Time Turners can be retrieved from it. Thus, basically destroying the ability to go back in time.
There are 2 Time Turners in “Cursed Child”. Both created by Theodore Nott. One was discovered by Harry and Aurors during a raid of Nott’s house then stolen from Hermione’s office by Albus and crew, and destroyed by Delphi. The second was held by the Malfoy Family and used by Harry and crew and used to go back and catch Delphi.
The time turners used in “Cursed Child” had to have been made after the Battle of Hogwarts, as Theodore Nott was still at Hogwarts at the time.
All “Time turners” were destroyed in book 5 at the Battle of The Ministry.
I just had another thought... (Ok... a WILD mildly educated guess 😜) could it be, that one of the reasons Newt gets Jacob involved is to help bring Queenie to her senses?
I mean really, aside from Queenie there’s no real reason to bring Jacob along. Even if he does remember the last events... MACUSA could just “obliviate” him again only more powerfully.
Jacob has a purpose. In the last FB he was a great help to Newt and the Goldstein Girls, but he was pulled into the situation by accident.
This time, it seems as though Newt actually retrieves him, and he’s deliberately involved... it has to have something to do with Queenie.
Maybe she does a Snape and becomes a double agent- she is a legilimece... she maybe very good with occlumency... a necessary skill for undercover work.
Wow!! 😳🤯
I didn’t even go there!!
It’s an interesting theory, what kept me from it is that Grindelwald wants to triumph over Muggles/No-Maj and force them into servitude... not “Muggle/No-Maj born wizards” but the non magical population. Like Jacob.
On the other hand, in a new world order where Wizards are at the top of the hierarchy- I could see the allure and pull of power it would give Queenie. As a wizard, on top, she could marry and be with whom ever she wants- ideally.
I could see Grindelwald manipulating her into believing in “the greater good”
She seems to have played second to her sister, and is in love with a No-Maj whom, because she’s a wizard she can’t be with... Grindelwald could Offer her a lot. She very talented and under appreciated.
Well, with the imperious curse- then yes charges and conviction most likely... but potion only? 😕
In reference to Murope, One can only go by there own belief of what constitutes “Misuse of Magic” in her case or any case. I believe there is sufficient evidence that would constitute charges, but a conviction? Who’s to say.
In my mind- her inner suffering was punishment enough, and with her actions through the use of a love potion she inflicted enough mental pain that it killed her will to live- even though a child, is absolutely more than enough to live for.
Hey, I’m with you! I personally think they should be band... maybe Hermione will get them band- at least the most powerful ones!
For instance, would Murope Gaunt have been found out, I believe she would have been brought before the “Misuse of Magic Committee” and charged with a crime.
Not necessarily. Should the “physical act” be completely non-consensual it would most likely fall under the “Misuse of Magic” laws.
Obviously, there’s no way to know for sure but, I personally choose to believe that the Wizarding world wouldn’t condone such acts against humanity and would put in strict laws around harm of this kind.

I guess, basically.
I mean if someone is sick enough to use a love potion to do physical and mental harm in a “devious” manner... it feels that the “Dark Arts” would be an obvious path. An Imperious Curse would seem easier!
So... I’ve looked for the answer, but haven’t come up with anything solid.
The books mention a couple of times, but in Deathly Hallows for sure, that there are lots of Weasley cousins- all red haired - which is why Harry uses polyjuice to turn into a red head at Bill and Fleur’s wedding. So he could just get lost among the many Wesley cousins... unfortunately we don’t hear anything really about any of the Weasley cousins. You’d think there would be a few different Weasley branches at Hogwarts.
We know that they have been considered “blood traitors” for generations- hence why they’re not included in the “Sacred 28” and are also part of the Black Family tree.
What do you guys think?
Could a Weasley show up in the later Fantastic Beast? That would be cool!!
I would assume, like in the Muggle world, Government relies on the morals and values of its citizens to act in an appropriate manner. Hoping Wizarding families, and school will help to raise ethically inclined people to inherently use magic in an appropriate way.
There is also the “cultural aspect” of the Wizarding word vs the Muggle word. With much greater ways to to channel aggressive energy and to feel powerful- one would turn to the Dark Arts and use those to manipulate and hurt as a pose to a love potion to dominate or feel powerful over someone.
It also seems that there is a limit to which magic can be used “legally” or “ethically” but the line between the two sides does feel more or less.
Yes, 👆🏼what they said. Ron also comments about how weird it was when they touch down next to the Visitors entrance at Ministry in London.
This is a good discussion and have nothing to add really except that one reason Newt might have been so adamant about Jacob not going near the Obcurial is that he’s not ENTIRELY sure about its power- as to why he wanted to study it.
Jacob was obviously entranced by it, and Newt allows just moment to observe the interaction, but interrupts just as Jacob becomes close enough to touch it.
^^ I disagree. I believe it is beautiful addition to the story. It’s just hard to except some of the circumstances- but then again, that’s one of the major themes. Acceptance, and unconditional love.
I believe it would work... because it can not create REAL love. I would cause someone to by pass who they are and create a fake reality, and obsession.
Yes, it was Cedric’s Death that allows Harry to see the Thestrals... and I wasn’t until he went home to Privet Drive, and the reality of the death had sunk in that he came to realize the true weigh of what he had witnessed.
This is why he doesn’t see them at the end of 4th year on the ride back to the Hogwarts Express. He hadn’t fully processed it.
It’s the same for a baby. Death is far to abstract for a 1 year old child to understand. They can’t internalize it.
