Yeah I wished they’d shown him fixing his old wand in the movie. I liked that so much in the book
Now that you mention it, I can hear Sirius’ voice (voiceover reading the letter) saying, “PS, the bird bites.”
In the book, Pig is a gift from Sirius (post-failed attempt to save him) to Ron as a thank you and because he’d received letters delivered by Errol and knew Ron needed an owl of his own. Last couple chapters

The true goat is Molly Weasley.
Narcissa made all the right decisions TOO LATE. No truly good person would either be a racist (against Muggleborns) or marry such an overt racist and then allow that person to project his prejudices onto her child. It’s great and all that when it came down to it she did the right thing, but throughout all the tiny steps taken leading up to those actions becoming necessary, she just stood by and watched. She was only bothered in the beginning of Half-Blood Prince when Voldemort’s plan finally put her son in danger. She only cared about how it affected her. She only protected Harry because he gave her the information that her son was safe.
Very touchy subject but I think an important discussion to have. Great post!
I agree that characters with distinctive canon descriptions should be honored, and then all other roles be cast on merit.
My concern when hearing the age of these actors is less about their appearance or acting skill (as even Dan, Rupert, and Emma all have said they weren’t experienced but became good actors because of the acting legends they were exposed to while working on the films), but their age. They should be that young to be true to the characters are they’re filming, but I worry for their mental health as they will undoubtedly be constantly compared to their original film actors. We will always have “our” Golden Trio in mind when watching the show and, intentionally or not, compare the new cast’s performance to the old’s. I just hope the Internet is kind to them, but I know better.

Ravenclaw, because she’s a Mastermind
I hit Slytherin but meant Ravenclaw. Slytherin wouldn’t have her because of her blood status
Tie between Dobby and Kreacher. Winky would get overwhelmed

I totally understand why it happened, but after a while (idk, like decades?) she should’ve grown up and gotten over it. At the very least, she could’ve had an ounce of compassion for a literal baby who lost his mother instead of transferring her anger at her sister (which was already misplaced, she should’ve been upset initially at Hogwarts, but then still it’s been too long) to someone who’s not only had no say in his circumstances but is also (at the beginning) completely unaware of even the world you are even jealous he’s supposedly a part of.
I think his true fear was weakness (or at least perceived weakness), not necessarily fear, as hypothesized by Remus.
Petunia’s entire attitude towards wizardry at all after finding out she’d begged to go to Hogwarts when she and Lily were kids.
Yeah once you get this deep into the story, there are certain omission that necessitate more omissions. That’s the most annoying part.

In the book, Hermione did not howl. And even in the movie, the howl from this screenshot is his initial howl after transforming; he did not respond to Hermione’s (film) howl, and I think the “response” part of this description is an important distinction.
Hi, US Potterhead here. Every time I think about the general attitude towards Slytherins, it reminds me of the American South.
The Slytherin hate stems from Salazar Slytherin and the stereotypical pureblood “racism” or prejudice against those with Muggle blood.
Has progress been made in that regard? Yes. Are there still people who feel that way about Muggles? Yes. Is it hard for some non-Slytherins to separate the good from the bad? Of course.
I think it literally means responding to his own kind. While Sirius isn’t a werewolf in the traditional sense, he is a were (man) wolf (dog). In fact, I would imagine any Animagus that takes a dog/wolf form would, to a werewolf, be considered “its own kind”. The only difference is that Animagi change at will instead of during the full moon.
