So you know how Ollivander keeps on saying to Harry that the wand chooses the wizard? Well, I believe there is more meaning.
Wands are made of different types of wood, and as the wand wood page on Pottermore states, different woods suit different wizards. The meaning behind this is probably because some people may not be able to handle the power of a specific kind of wand, therefore making it a "magical note" that the wand chooses the wizard rather the reverse. The wand, acting as a person, will decide on who it thinks is powerful enough to harness the magical power of a wand. Remember, wand less magic is not as common as wand-induced magic.
