<p>Xx... okay you’re correct why would he be stuffing garlic if not to keep away vampires ? I doubt that was what Voldy was eating , we all saw him feeding off of the unicorn blood so garlic seems a bit strange . My only educated guess would have to be that he was keeping away somebody that he believed to be repelled by garlic ...AND Snape was the ONLY one who was really watching him during that time and was on to him ! Yes this theory does have quite a good solid foundation. Also , we know JKR loves to have a complex world in which we have to sometimes see the subtle hints and come to our own conclusions about things which is why so much is revealed by her later or in interviews and even then she doesn’t wanna fully give it away . Secrets still remain hidden (but in plain sight )within the Wizarding world . We can only try and understand that which is being said even when it is not in a straightforward manner . </p><p>

<p>He could be a vampire but if so it isn’t part of the story and if that’s the case then I guess it’s not something that really contributes to the content of the story . maybe unlike Lupin it’s isnt something that ails him . </p><p>He is also a “potions professor “ and may know how to get past the obsessive need for fresh blood all the time with some potion or other . I don’t think he is a vampire , but it would NOT surprise me if he was somehow .</p><p> Snape is a private person and doesn’t share his problems with others in order to lighten his own load he carries his load with pride </p><p>
