Its stated in the books that the trace only reacts to magic being performed,and that it actually can't find out who performed the magic.The Ministry actually depends on parents to enforce the rules in magical households.Since Dobby performed magic in a household with only one registered underage wizard,Harry was convicted for it.

While I don't actually want this to happen,it would be an interesting twist.If Hagrid dies,his death would push Harry over to the dark side.He would probably use the killing curse on whoever did it(Harry tends to ignore social norms when he's angry-like when Sirius died,he used the Cruciatus curse).The entire Narrative might take a darker,gritty tone,and Harry might become a lone-wolf battling against the Death Eaters.

While I don't particularly don't like these ships,I do get why people pair these people together.Its a common trope in books/movies/anime for two people who don't like each other to eventually fall in love with each other.Maybe its because of that?

But how does he know non-verbal magic?They only teach that in the 6th year.
