The editors and Rowling decided. I think they thought americans would understand the word Philosopher differently and that Sorcorer was better for americans. JKR later said she regretted changing it to sorcorer's stone.

@Ebb2k98 I doubt that would work, because Lily did the sacrifice spell, therefore it had to be a blood relative from her side of the family to raise Harry.

I think it's 17, which is the age a person is an adult in the wizarding world. Percy got a job right after Hogwarts too, and he was 17.

Technically none of them should have house robes as in the books all of their hogwarts robes are plain black. Also Luna should have waist length straggly dirty blond hair. Overall pretty cool.
