So, I've seen so much trigger and discussion about this but as far as I understand, j k Rowling said something that required the supreme court to give the definition of a woman. 70k was involved, something to do with Pedro pascal but I've seen people on social media saying "stop supporting harry potter" because of this.

Now here's the thing, I've loved harry potter more than I love the author but I feel embarrassed to admit that dye to recent ... Issues. I know that because I have seen the films and have the books that I'm technically supporting j k Rowling and her ... Things I don't believe with but dies that mean I'm bad for it.

I dont understand.

Amelia I supposed to give up what I love because the author said something no one believes with and now people with think of her claims when I say I like harry potter?

Before I say anything, Please do not yell at me for my opinions, I'm simply voicing how I feel. Thanks.

I'm sure most of you have heard by now that John Lithgow is playing Albus Dumbledore and (unofficially) Paapa Essiedu as Snape and Janet McTeer as McGonagall.

Now I'm not apposed to this however, considering the original films were a big hit does not one else think it's wrong to divert from the books?

Up to my knowledge (corrections welcomed) J.K Rowling sold the rights to Harry Potter, therefore she wouldn't get a say in whose cast?

But for the original casting she wanted British actors, and there's nothing wrong with these potential actors but it's like switching history around for no apparent reason just to please everyone.

Think how weird it would be to see the character of Harry, hating the character of Snape but would it not offend so many people if Snape was black because many people would call it racist to have a white (or apparently Asian, according to other sources) Harry hating a person of another colour even if it is just fiction.

And unfortunately we have lost many of the beloved actors who will never be completely replaced, but should HBO stick to the original as close as possible or change it completely?

How many rough drafts of harry potter and the philosophers stone are there?

Because it took j k Rowling 6 years to write it so I assume that the first draft is very different from the published book.

At the start of Chamber of Secrets, we see the POV of Harry and Ron flying a car to Hogwarts and hitting the whomping willow. Then they're late to the sorting ceremony and get reprehended by Dumbledore, Snape and McGonagall.

Ron then asks "what about Ginny, we missed the ceremony"

To which McGonagall replies "she's also in Gryffindor!"

But when the sorting hat was placed in Ginny, did it repeat what it did last year to Ron, when it said "Ha, Another Weasley, I know just what to do with you, GRYFFINDOR!"

Or would it have said something different?

I love in Goblet of Fire how supportive she is of Harry. She tried to reason with Dumbledore not to let Harry compete in a tournament he didn't want, she reminds him that's there's help if things go badly. And near the end, after Harry was attacked by death eaters and Voldemort along with witnessing Cedric's death, she along with Snape and Dumbledore rescue Harry from Moody (Barty crouch jr) but she moves him out of the way to protect him.

Also in order of the phoenix, she agrees with potter about umbridge, so says "have a biscuit potter".

And in philosophers stone she, tries to protect Harry by not sending him to the Dursley's but Dumbledore did anyway because she knew he would be treated badly.

And in prisoner of Azkaban when she politely tells Harry she can't sign his permission form but understands that he has to ask a relative, not a teacher but then apologies because she knows the Dursley's wouldn't sign the permission slip anyway.

She's like a mother to Harry

I particularly like how Harry's anxiety is portrayed, as everyone says good luck, and wishes him well he just feels more and more anxious. For the first time, he considered running away from Hogwarts.

In Philosophers Stone when Harry wakes up, 3 days after his fight with Quietly/Voldemort, instead of discussing the events with Dumbledore, he woke up to see Ron in the bed next to him.

In Philosophers Stone, we see a lot of Harry and Ron, e.g. on the train most of the journey is just those two, saving Hermione from the troll, Wizards chess and Christmas etc.

So if Harry woke up to see Ron next to him, how would that impact the storyline (rather than Harry discussing Voldemort with Dumbledore)

Everyone says going to Hogwarts is amazing and you'll have the best time of your life. Harry even said it was his home.

But ...

I know this isn't a Hogwarts problem and it was done specially for the whole series and stuff but despite having Hermione and Ron, Harry was alone.

Think about it ...

In the second book/film when Harry discovered he could speak Parselmouth, Ron is confused why he never mentioned it and Hermione knows it bad but Harry doesn't understand. What I sort of don't like (probably a film choice) is that in Philosophers Stone, on the train, Harry and Ron spent the whole time discussing each others lives like how Ron has many siblings and a lot of expectations to fill and Harry didn't even know about the wizarding world because the Dursley's shut him away from it all, so why didn't Ron understand that Harry has absolutely no idea what's going on. Also when everyone is all studying Harry clearly feels alone because everyone thinks he's the heir of Slytherin and is ignoring/fearing him but even Ron and Hermione don't really say anything to Harry, so Harry ends up leaving alone.

In Goblet of Fire, when Harry is forced into the tournament even though he didn't want to, everyone even Ron thinks he did it for fame and money. Everyone was sporting the 'potter stinks' badges. But near the end when Cedric was killed, everyone was shocked and despite Dumbledore speaking about Voldemort returning, the Daily Prophet twisted it around over the summer to make Harry look bad.

The start of order of the phoenix, everyone now believes that Harry purposely killed Cedric because he wanted to win the trophy, it's likely they still think he entered the tournament on purpose and probably still remember the 'heir of Slytherin' ordeal. Even Seamus yelled at Harry to the point where Ron (now prefect) had to shut him down. But clearly everyone forgot that Harry is traumatized by the ordeal (he was even physically hurt) and traumatised by his past.

Only when Harry creates Dumbledore's Army and Luna with the Quibbler were able to speak the truth, did Harry have a lot of support and are ready to fight the war.

Up until fifth year, Harry really only had Ron and Hermione, Ginny and Neville, Seamus and Dean in the dorm, everyone else was just existing.

In chamber of secrets when Harry discovered her is a parsel mouth and the trio are studying. Harry looks around the room to find everyone turns away and ignored him, even Ginny. Harry is confused and sad by this. Ron looks at Harry a bit like "I don't know how to help you" and Hermione does this ...

But why does she do that?

Poor Harry just wants someone to say something but even Hermione and Ron don't know what to say.

You're a first year student (11 years old) in 1995-1996, there's a sixth year boy famously named Harry Potter, even you've heard of him and you're so happy to finally see him. You don't know him personally but you see him walking around always looking agitated. All you know is his parents were killed.

What you didn't know at the time:

Harry's scar bother him

His mind is connected to Voldemort through visions

Voldemort will start a war in 1997 (12/13 years old) and you will be forced to have lessons by dark people and be punished severally

You will be evacuated because of the war

Harry is 'dead'

Harry lives with his muggle 'family' who treat him horribly

Harry killed his first Defence Against the dark arts teacher (aka Voldemort on quirells head)

Harry rescued a captured student who nearly died in the chamber of secrets.

Harry saves a prisoner and reverses time

Harry watches his opponent get killed in a tournament he didn't sign up for and everyone doesn't believe him

Your just a first year student who has absolutely no idea the significance of Harry's trauma until Voldemort is killed and the war ends.

Everyone talks about how the young actors in Harry Potter became famous, but what about the dozens of other actors who tried for various roles, no one ever speaks of them.

Even the likes of the HBO series, there was something like 30,000 children between the ages of 9-11 applied to be Harry, Ron or Hermione but when other roles are needed surely there's going to be many more who apply.

Unfortunately not every single child can be apart of the series, so the ones who never made it, I wonder what happened to them.
