CEDRIC is way too overrated mostly because he's 'hot' (MOSTLY but some people like him for other reasons)
He's death had little to no emotional impact, he only had brief acknowledgements for the plot and none carried major significance.

I think Harry have no parental figures (other than the Dursleys if you count them) is what makes him and Voldemort alike and choices and everything. Harry having grandparents would ruin the story and Sirius wouldn't be as good as a Godfather to Harry because of his grandparents taking over.
