He is a flawed person- no doubt just like anybody else. He made some mistakes and overcome them trying his best for others not to make the same. He has self-control, he has the opportunity to grasp power, but he chooses not to because he knows. He tried to make Harry not have the same mistake, but it ended up failing and so, that was one of his flaws as a human being.
