Well in the book Harry stays in the leaky cauldron and is there for a week spending time in diagon alley then he meets up with Ron and Hermione and then that go off to the train together maybe the next day or so I think. Not sure if it is the same in the movie with the timing and all.

I know people love Draco but I think it is because of the actor and the movies. In the books he is a straight out bully properly making fun of Neville Hermione and others. With Hermione he was the wizard equivalent of racism making fun of hermione because of her blood status. Back to Neville he fat shamed him and made fun of Hermione.
