Well originally Slytherin you had to be very cunning and powerful also, Salazar Slytherin didn't want anyone who was not a pureblood.

Gryffindor you would you had to be very brave and courageous

Ravenclaw like very smart, intelligent most of the time. They're pretty introverted too

And Hufflepuff originally she just pretty much took the people that the others didn't want. But they're very kind and generous and selfless
