カシオペア・ブラック(1915-1992)は、純血の魔女であり、シグナス・ブラックとバイオレッタ・ブルストロードとの間にうまれた長女。兄のポラクス・ブラック、弟のマリウス・ブラック、妹のドリア・ブラックの4人兄弟だった。カシオペア・ブラックは結婚をしなかったために子供もいなかった[1]。
名前の由来[]
ブラック家の命名するときの伝統に従ってカシオペア・ブラックにも星座の名前から付けられている。ギリシャ神話に登場するカシオペア女王の名にちなんでつけられている。彼女は、非常に美しかったが、無駄に傲慢で誇り高かったために失脚された。ギリシャ語のΚασσιόπηから派生したもので、「彼女の言葉は優れてる」という意味を持つ。

This implies that all Blacks except Sirius were sorted into Slytherin while Slughorn was teaching at Hogwarts. As revealed in, Chapter 3 (Horace Slughorn), Slughorn had "completed half a century of service" at the time of his retirement in 1981, meaning he started teaching there circa 1931. Cassiopeia, born in 1915, presumably attended Hogwarts from 1926 to 1933, and thus would have been a student of Slughorn for at least part of her time at Hogwarts.
