- 1883: A riot takes place at the Ministry of Magic, in Whitehall, over the ministerial decision to replace the "scoring baskets" used for centuries for goalscoring in Quidditch with fixed, standardised hoops on poles. The assembled demonstrators throw a "hail of baskets" at the representative from the Department of Magical Games and Sports.[1]
