- 1855: Evangeline Orpington's term as Minister for Magic ends.[3]
- 1855: Violet Tillyman seemingly disappears from the face of the planet when she tries to go to her mother's house via the Floo Network after fighting with her husband Albert.[4]
- 1855: The sixty-fifth Wizarding Schools Potions Championship is held.[5]
- 1855: Priscilla Dupont becomes Minister for Magic.[6]
- 17 February 1858: Priscilla Dupont forced to step down as Minister for Magic after she conceived an irrational loathing of the Muggle Prime Minister Lord Palmerston, to an extent that caused trouble such as coins turning to frogspawn in his coat pockets, etc.[7]
- 1858: Dugald McPhail becomes Minister for Magic.[8]
- 1858: Squib Angus Buchanan goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a first-year. He becomes the first and only Squib in history to try on the Sorting Hat, who announced he was "a good-hearted chap, but no wizard".[9]
