- The seventy-fifth Wizarding Schools Potions Championship was held.[2]
- Fleury's Fancy Fauna in New York was forcibly shut down by the Magical Congress of the United States of America for illegally breeding magical beasts within city limits.[3][4]
- Summer: Bob Ogden arrested Marvolo Gaunt and his son Morfin for the latter's hexing of Tom Riddle Snr. Marvolo was given a six month sentence in Azkaban for assaulting several Ministry employees, while Morfin was given three years for the aforementioned hexing of Riddle.[5]
- c. December: Merope Gaunt and Tom Riddle Snr were married.
