Quidditch[]
- The Slytherin Quidditch team was newly captained by Emma Vanity.[6]
- A brawl took place on the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch. Similar incidents did not happen again until the 1987–1988 school year.[7]
- The Chudley Cannons adopt a new motto, "Let's all keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best",[8] in the same year that they participated in the International Quidditch Tournament.
