  13. 13.0 13.1 13.2 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 8 (The Potions Master) - 'Friday was an important day for Harry and Ron. [...] 'What have we got today?' Harry asked Ron as he poured sugar on his porridge. 'Double Potions with the Slytherins,' said Ron.' [...] 'Wish McGonagall favoured us,' said Harry. Professor McGonagall was head of Gryffindor House, but it hadn't stopped her from giving them a huge pile of homework the day before.' [...] 'I know you get Friday afternoons off, so would you like to come and have a cup of tea with me around three?'
  14. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 9 (The Midnight Duel) - 'Flying lessons would be starting on Thursday' [...] 'At three-thirty that afternoon'

  17. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 8 (The Potions Master) -'Three times a week they went out to the greenhouses behind the castle to study Herbology [...]
  18. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 14 (Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback) - 'Then, one breakfast time, Hedwig brought Harry another note from Hagrid.' [...] 'Ron wanted to skip Herbology and go straight down to the hut. Hermione wouldn't hear of it.' 22. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 10 (Hallowe'en) - 'Hermione didn't turn up for the next class and wasn't seen all afternoon.'
  23. In the real world calendar, Hallowe'en would be on Thursday in 1991. However, the book often gets days mixed up. For example, in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 3 (The Letters from No One) Harry says his eleventh birthday was on Tuesday, but in 1991, it was on Wednesday. Therefore, it is unknown what day of the week it would fall on for certain.
  24. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 9 (The Midnight Duel) - 'Flying lessons would be starting on Thursday — and Gryffindor and Slytherin would be learning together.'
  25. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 9 (The Midnight Duel) - 'At three-thirty that afternoon, Harry, Ron, and the other Gryffindors hurried down the front steps onto the grounds for their first flying lesson.'
  26. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 9 (The Midnight Duel) sees Harry leaving his Flying lesson with McGonagall before the end of that lesson, and heading to Charms where Oliver was in a lesson. The Flying lesson started at three thirty in the afternoon and Harry met Oliver a short while later.
  27. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 17 (Educational Decree Number Twenty-Four) - ''Now. How long have you been teaching at Hogwarts?' she asked, her quill poised over her clipboard. 'Fourteen years,' Snape replied. 'You applied first for the Defence Against the Dark Arts post, I believe?' Professor Umbridge asked Snape. 'Yes,' said Snape quietly. 'And you have applied regularly for the Defence Against the Dark Arts post since you first joined the school, I believe?' 'Yes,' said Snape quietly, barely moving his lips.' Snape began his teaching career in 1981, applying first for professor of DADA. Since then, he applied every year and was regularly rejected.
  28. Gryffindor won the House Cup with a last-minute comeback from the fourth place (312 points), thanks to Ronald Weasley (who was awarded 50 points 'for the best-played game of chess Hogwarts has seen in many years'), Hermione Granger (50 points 'for the use of cool logic in the face of fire'), Harry Potter (60 points 'for pure nerve and outstanding courage') and Neville Longbottom (10 points because 'it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends') – Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 17 (The Man with Two Faces).
