- Annually: The school term of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry starts on this day; class schedules were given out at breakfast.
- 1890: a new fifth-year student received a Wizard's Field Guide from Professor Weasley to help him catch up to his classmates, and attended Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, they also visited Hogsmeade to buy school supplies and a new wand, and helped with a troll attack sent by the goblin Ranrok.[1]
- 1991: Harry Potter and Ron Weasley got into trouble with Argus Filch, who thought they were trying to break into the forbidden Third Floor Corridor.[2]
- 1992: Ron Weasley received a Howler over breakfast from his mother, because he stole the Flying Ford Anglia. Gilderoy Lockhart oversaw a disastrous lesson with his second year Defence Against the Dark Arts class in which he released live Cornish Pixies in class.[3]
- 1993: At 9 a.m., Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger had their first Divination class. Hermione also attended Muggle Studies and Arithmancy 9 a.m. as well. Later in the morning, they had Transfiguration. After lunch, Rubeus Hagrid taught his first lesson of Care of Magical Creatures, where Draco Malfoy was injured by Buckbeak.[4]
- 1994: The Fourth years had Herbology, where they studied Bubotubers. They also had Care of Magical Creatures, where they met the Blast-Ended Skrewts, and Divination, where they began Astrology. The Daily Prophet published Rita Skeeter's article about Arthur Weasley and Alastor Moody. Bartemius Crouch Junior, impersonating Alastor Moody, transformed Draco Malfoy into a ferret.[5]
- 1995: In a Fifth year Potions class, the Draught of Peace is produced. Later, in Defence Against the Dark Arts, Harry got detention from Dolores Umbridge for questioning her beliefs.[6]
- 1996: In the morning the Sixth years had Defence Against the Dark Arts class; Severus Snape attempted to jinx Harry Potter, Harry retaliated with the Shield Charm and got detention. Later, in Potions, Harry stumbled across the Half-Blood Prince's book and, by using it, wins a bottle of Felix Felicis, after brewing a Draught of Living Death.[7]
- 1997: Harry, Ron, and Hermione infiltrated the Ministry of Magic and narrowly escaped with Salazar Slytherin's Locket. Harry Potter had a vision and saw Voldemort learning that a boy stole the thing he wants from Gregorovitch.[8]
