A Young Professor McGonagall was the name of a portrait of Minerva McGonagall which hung on a wall within the Gryffindor common room, located inside Gryffindor Tower.[1] The portrait depicted McGonagall when she was younger, standing next to a black cat,[1] while possibly still Head of Gryffindor House.
Behind the scenes[]
- As the portrait shows McGonagall with a cat at her feet, it is possible that this cat was the one owned by her family, or is representative of her animagus form.
- The portrait was shown to be startled by the terrible screeching noise made by the golden egg in Goblet of Fire, covering her ears whilst the cat fled out of the painting itself.
