Aberdeen (Scots: Aiberdeen) is Scotland's third most populous city, one of Scotland's 32 local government council areas and the United Kingdom's 29th most populous city, with an official population estimate of 217,100.[1]
History[]
Modesty Rabnott's sister Prudence lived in Aberdeen, according to a 13th century letter on display in the Museum of Quidditch. Modesty went to live there, after the Wizards' Council took her house for disrupting a game of "Cuaditch".[2]
In 1754, celebrated broom fliers and sworn enemies Silvio Astolfi, of Italy, and Torquil McTavish, of Scotland, agreed to hold a race from Aberdeen to Rome. Ministry representatives from both countries were present at the start and finishing line and Ministry witch Orabella Nuttley was made in charge of arranging Portkeys. The race ended in chaos as a riot at the finishing line resulted in the destruction of the Coliseum, but Nuttley prevented disaster by using a charm of her own making to restore the building before the Muggles realised it had been destroyed.[2]
During Harry Potter's first trip on the Knight Bus, the bus moved to Aberdeen abruptly, making Harry spill his hot chocolate.[3]
