The plot details of achievements in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.
Achievements[]
Most achievements occur as 3-day (72-hour) limited-time events, consisting 4-part Side Quests. Year 3's "Birds Of A Feather" and Year 5's "Ordinary Wizarding Levels" both have an additional 19-hour for its event.[1] Year 4's "Celestial Ball" has an additional 41-hour for its event.
The names of achievements, as shown in the game's achievement display, often are different from what was being displayed during the limited-time events, with most early ones matching the respective first Side Quests of respective achievements, while Jam City also sometimes additionally refer to them differently, and not the actual names of achievements. With the release of the memory book, which allows replaying of scenes, it also may label them differently prior to completing the achievement (after completion, they are usually the same or labelled according to the specific scene).

Mistakes[]
In Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, this achievement and its Side Quests seemingly contain continuity errors along with other mistakes:
- When keeping watch over two students for Minerva McGonagall, one was established as a sixth year, the other a first year. After a confrontation, the sixth year was referred as a fifth year instead.
- Charm to Cure Reluctant Reversers, learned during this event, lacks the usual hexagon shape as an icon in the list of things learned.
- If the player did not open the app between the introduction of this quest and the addition of Hallowe'en decorations, the common room and Great Hall are decorated with pumpkins during the quest despite the fact that the quest is supposed to take place in early December.
- The Achievement is placed in Year 1 (as shown in its Achievements section), but everything in the event seems to imply it takes place in Year 2 or later.
- Merula claims Dumbledore is about to give the player 100 house points for breaking the rules again. However, as the event takes place in Year 1, the first occurrence of Dumbledore giving the player 100 house points has not happened yet.
- When intervening a fight and led to a duel; the spells available to use in the duel seem to be up to date with the players current progress, hence including a lot more variety than what actual first year players would possess.
- Characters refer to Fang by his name although Fang is only named in the Year 2 Side Quest "Help Hagrid!"
- When babysitting Fang, the player has the option to use their Animagus form, a potential ability only gained in Achievement "Become an Animagus!" that is set during Year 3, two years later.
- In Potions class with Severus Snape, the player states they are in whichever year they are in when the event was implemented, leading to players in fifth year at the time stating they're a fifth year rather than stating they're a first year.
- Liz Tuttle and Talbott Winger both make appearances in the background and can be interacted with during Part 3 task 2 and Liz can also be interacted with in Part 3 task 3. These characters do not meet the player until Year 3 Side Quest "Polyjuice Potion" (Liz) and Year 3 Achievement "Become an Animagus!" (Talbott). As this event supposedly takes place two years prior, the player shouldn't know who they are.

- "When the Christmas holidays arrive at Hogwarts, it's time for friendship, adventure, and a surprise family visit. Help everyone have a Happy Christmas, and you'll receive a special gift from the Weasleys!"

The Legendary Snitch of Hogsmeade[]
Plot[]
Skye Parkin summoned Jacob's sibling to Madam Rosmerta's Three Broomsticks Inn. When they reached the Inn, they noticed that the former keeper of their Quidditch team had paid them an unexpected visit. The former keeper told them that the Golden Snitch of Hogsmeade had been seen in Zonko's Joke Shop; although later he admitted he lied and wanted to make up a quest for the team.[19]
The team started the investigation of the snitch in Zonko's, but the former keeper's fake snitch had escaped, and when the team went to the Quidditch pitch in order to have a practice, they sighted the Snitch and Jacob's sibling caught it.[19]
When they celebrated in the Three Broomsticks, the former keeper admitted that he loosened the snitch in Zonko's, though he caught it when it escaped and the one they caught was the real legendary Snitch of Hogsmeade. Also Jacob's sibling is presented a Keeper gear from the former Keeper.[19]
Jacob's sibling played a friendly after that, in order to try out the gear.[19]

Behind the scenes[]
- O.W.L. written examinations are depicted as being held in classrooms in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery,[20] which contradicts the depiction of O.W.L. examinations in the original books, which are depicted as being held in the Great Hall, with students sit at individual tables in order to prevent them cheating or copying off each other.[21][22] It seems rather odd that students doing formal O.W.L. exams in such close proximity to one other in classrooms would be considered permissible standards.

The Dragon's Treasure[]

A trip to dragon country is no small undertaking. Make sure you'are ready before you set out!
At long last, you arrive at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary. Your first task? Survive!
With Charlie missing, you and Bill search frantically to find him before a hungry dragon does!

Preparation for the hunt[]
- "I would've lost my arm if I haven't managed to fire off a Sleeping Charm just before its jaws snapped shut. Eh, I find it's best not to be too attached to material things. Limbs come and go, but the stories last a lifetime."

During one of the Defence Against the Dark Arts classes of Bill Weasley in 1989–1990 school year, Bill intended to explain the life of a curse-breaker due to Penny Haywood's request. Bill mentioned that his next assignment contained dragons, and the Dragonologist-in-waiting Charles Weasley insisted that his brother took him with himself, though Bill was against it.[23]
He and Jacob's sibling went to Gringotts Wizarding Bank to convince him but they met Griphook, Bill's boss, instead. Hopefully he agreed to let them go with the eldest Weasley in order to recover Urgruff's Golden Egg from a mother dragon. Also, Bill agreed to take them only if JAcob's sibling agreed to prepare for the field trip.[23]
Jacob's sibling agreed and gathered those who were in the class, including Merula Snyde, Penny Haywood, Barnaby Lee and Charlie, in the Three Broomsticks Inn. Despite Barnaby wanting to ride a dragon, Merula seeking a pay, and Penny worrying about getting eaten alive, or roasted alive, or stepped on, they convinced them to come in to the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary due to the assignment.[24]
Then they all went to Hagrid's Hut in order to learn about camping. And students asked their questions and gave their opinions such as: How long does it take to toast the perfect marshmallows? If you were a tree, would you rather be in a forest of friends or stand alone? If I see a bear, I'll feed it Jacob's sibling as a distraction?[24]
In the meantime, Hagrid advised them that the most important survival tool is their umbrella and in their case their wands.[24]
Then, the students and Hagrid went to Silvanus Kettleburn in order to learn about dragons. He advised them to practise their protective wards and Stunning Spell, and warned them that there's no greater existential threat that dragonfire, and no dragon is safe.[24]
Camping in the Sanctuary[]
Bill Weasley made sure that everyone is willing to come, and then activated a Portkey to the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary.[24]
When they reached the Sanctuary, they examined the environment briefly and then camped. At night they toasted marshmallows and Barnaby Lee told a scary story; The Tale of the Bloodthirsty Broom.[25]
The roars of the dragon terrified some of them including Merula Snyde, although she didn't admit it, thus, they headed into the Hagrid's tent. Ignorantly to the infamous rock cakes Hagrid had left them, they played Truth or Dare.[25]
During the game, Penny admitted that she would have liked it to be a unicorn as an Animagus. Bill Weasley also admitted he scared of Griphook and couldn't say whether or not Griphook liked him. And Merula was dared to eat one of the Roc Cakes. Merula sought Bill, the most awkward thing that Charles Weasley had ever done, "He used Spellotape to give Scabbers paper wings, and he made our family owl, Errol, fly around with a dragon mask. Then he would creep around The Burrow with a notebook, writing down his 'observation of dragon behaviour'".[25]
Egg hunting or Charles hunting[]
This truth made Charles leave others, and others went to sleep.[25]
In the morning they went searching for the egg. First they investigated a Common Welsh Green. During the investigation they figured out Charlie was missing. So the task becomes finding Charlie instead of the golden egg.[25] While searching for him, they confronted a Norwegian Ridgeback and a vicious, female one, as she was protecting its nest and eggs. The group casted Stunning Spell, Stupefy, in order to make it unconscious but she flies away.[26]
Suddenly they heard Charlie's voice from a cave seeking help, when Bill and Jacob's sibling entered the cave to rescue him, they saw him with the egg, but he was in a bad shape and was injured and also he warned them about the mother of egg; a Hungarian Horntail.[26]
And not so late the Horntail entered, and Charlie was still hurt. Jacob's sibling fought it but couldn't resist against it so long, so he used a Sleeping Charm, as Professor Kettleburn had suggested, and they ran out of the cave.[26]
Then they packed the tent and came back to Gringotts Wizarding Bank via the same portkey, and gave Griphook the Golden egg.[26]

Transfiguration class[]

Professor Minerva McGonagall's Transfiguration class was supposed to have a voluntary demonstration of Feather Duster to Ferret. Regardless of Jacob's sibling wanting to demonstrate, the professor asked Wilfred Levi Kidd to demonstrate. The demonstration was so poor that the ambitious Slytherin Merula Snyde mocked him. So he sought to "reinvent himself", and when asking about Jacob's sibling's adventures, he decided to become a curse-breaker and asked them to be his mento.[27]
They both went to the library to do research. When Jacob's sibling arrived at the library, he closed the book of brain-teasers, and they started reading about the curse-breaking.[27]
Jacob's sibling suggested that they should see a professional curse-breaker, and the best option was William Weasley. They met him in the Three Broomsticks Inn and convinced him to take them on one of the adventures of his under one condition, and that was Levi Kidd had to understand the dangers that are in the way.[27]
So they paid a visit to Beatrice Haywood, a young student who had been cursed in a portrait. They entered the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom in order to visit her, although she wasn't alone and was being tutored by Ismelda Murk to cast Densaugeo. She willingly shared her experience in a portrait under the portrait curse.[27]
The three riddles of the Sphinx[]
Who dares intrude, with such errant blunder,
to wake this beast and disturb my slumber.
You've found the right location,
so you must be clever as a minx,
but if you hope to hold this treasure,
you'll have to defeat this Sphinx!
To best this cunning Sphinx,
you must solve my riddles, three...
Then find the 'Gift of Hogwarts',
and bring them back to me.
If you choose to commence,
so do at your own expense...
for a warning darkly looms...
That all who fail the Sphinx's quest...
will meet their certain dooms.
William's assignment, in accordance to Griphook, was to retrieve a treasure that a client in debt to the Gringotts Wizarding Bank had hidden it, in hopes of keeping it.[28]
When they reached the Red Cap's Hole where the treasure was hidden, they confronted a Sphinx protecting it. It challenged the curse-breakers to answer three riddles and bring it "The Gift of Hogwarts" or die.[28]
- The first riddle
"Golden Body, Silver Wings...
When I'm found, the Whistle Sings"
"Golden Snitch", Levi Kidd answered.
"You may be right or may be wrong,
but of that you'll only learn...
When you find the first 'Gift of Hogwarts',
and with it, you return."[28]
So, they went to Andre Egwu the Ravenclaw's Reserved Seeker, to find a Golden Snitch. He suggested to ask Madam Hooch, although, he seemed to think she won't be willing to give one before a match. So, they decided to go Jae Kim in order to buy one in the black market of Knockturn Alley.[28]
So they went to the kitchens and he agreed to help under one condition, if they could help him sneak out, he'd take Jacob's sibling alone to the Knockturn Alley.[28]
So they helped him escape via distracting Pitts. Jae took Jacob's sibling to the meeting spot, where his contact, Alistair Fidgen wanted them to meet.[28]
Alistair, surprisingly, 'felt generous' and gave them a Golden Snitch for free instead of selling it for 300 Galleons.[28]
They returned the Golden Snitch to the Red Cap's Hole and offered it to the Sphinx, thus, the Sphinx, took it, and approved of the answer.[29]
- The second riddle
I have head, but not a brain.
Am full-bodied, yet have no frame.
Many people believe I'm rich...
but I possess not a Knut to my name.
"Butterbeer" the young curse-breaker-in-training answered.[29]
Levi Kidd and Jacob's sibling went to the Three Broomsticks Inn while Bill went to inform Griphook of their process.[29]
Because of the crowd in the inn only one butterbeer were left, and Madam Rosmerta brought it for Levi Kidd and Jacob's sibling, although, Levi Kidd used Summoning Charm, but it failed, the glass broke and butterbeer wasted.[29]
So, they helped Madam Rosmerta to brew a new batch of butterbeer, and took a glass to the Sphinx, thus she approved of the answer once more.[29]
- The third riddle
Scarlet and gold, housing a creature most bold...
I hang on the hearts of brave wizards, young and old.
"Gryffindor house crest" Levi Kidd answered.[29]
Levi Kidd went to the Gryffindor common room, and Jacob's sibling visited Charles Weasley on Bill's suggestion in order to burrow a par of robes from the robes that was given to him by Bill after his graduation. Alas, he has shredded all of the robes in while dealing with dragons. Jacob's sibling offered a new set of clothes in exchange of his old ones.[29]
So they went back to Andre, and Andre afford them a new set of robes, so Charlie gave the old ones to Jacob's sibling, and they went back to the Sphinx. And then, the Sphinx approve of the answer.[29][30]
- Breaking more than one curse
Before you claim this treasure,
I have one last puzzle to make you think...
Among these cherished gifts you bring,
what is the common link?
"Golden" Levi Kidd answered, incorrectly; so Sphinx prepared itself to attack,
"I had high hopes for the three of you,
although I can't say why...
But this final riddle, you answered wrong,
and for that, you now must die!"[30]
Unlike others, Jacob's sibling asked for a second chance and as this happened for the first time in Sphinx' life, it agreed.[30]
After consideration, and Jacob's sibling's inspiration, Levi Kidd figured it out; "Bringing people together is the true 'Gift of Hogwarts'!"[30]
As the answer were truly, thus, they defeated the Sphinx and therefore collected the treasure and took it to the Gringotts.[30]
Griphook sought a report of the trip and then he asked Jacob's sibling to levitate the treasure. But Levi Kidd volunteered and did lift it up.[30]
