- "30 years ago when she met Sir Winogrand's collection in the African Lakes, [Selina Sapworthy] was absolutely surprised with the diversity and the magical potential that those water plants had."
- — Excerpt from Winogrand's Wonderous Water Plants[src]
The African Lakes were, presumably, a group of lakes located somewhere on the continent of Africa.
History[]
The Lakes were apparently a unique biome for plant diversity, as a large number of magical plants owned by Sir Winogrand grew in this region. A study of the plants of this region was the basis of Selina Sapworthy's book Winogrand's Wonderous Water Plants.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- The "African Lakes" may be a reference to the Rift Valley lakes, a group of lakes spanning the eastern edge of Africa known for their biodiversity.
