Agnes Scribner (fl. 1890) was the Head Librarian at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Biography

During the 1890–1891 school year, Agnes was working late in the library when she heard a sound. She thought it was one of the books wandering about but it was actually Sebastian Sallow with their friend trying to steal the key to the Restricted Section off her desk. Her sworn nemesis Peeves eventually reported it to her. She caught Sebastian and told him she would have to tell Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black. He lied to her that he was alone, but she didn't believe it and told him if anyone forced him into doing this, it is better that he let her know. She proceeded to question what his uncle would say about this.

On another occasion, a student sneaked past Agnes and took books from the Restricted Section. The books chased the student to a courtyard with Agnes following. She reprimanded the student and gave her a broomstick for her to sweep the courtyard to be more productive.

Personality and traits

Agnes was a strict librarian and tried to maintain order. However, she was passionate about introducing students to literature and willing to help with schoolwork if they respected the library rules and school property. She further showed concern for students, telling Sebastian Sallow it would be best to tell her if he was being forced into going into the Restricted Section without a permit.
