Aidan Kiely was an Irish wizard who played as the Seeker for the Kenmare Kestrels Quidditch team during the 1990s[2]. In a game against the Montrose Magpies, Aidan managed to catch the Snitch against opposing seeker Alasdair Maddock when the former attempted to use Muggle Football techniques during the game[2].

Behind the scenes

  • Aidan Kiely was named for Aidan Kiely, the author's close friend's brother who died as a child.

The name "Aidan" is the anglicised form of Aodhán. In the latter part of the 20th century it became popular in America due to its sound, since it uses the same fashionable aden suffix sound found in such names as Braden and Hayden.
