Alys[1] (born 1980s) was a witch who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1996[1] and was Sorted into Hufflepuff House.
Biography[]
In her first year during the 1996–1997 school year,[1] Alys was reminded by Professor Slughorn not to forget her rat tail on her desk after a Potions lesson.[3]
Etymology[]
The Welsh name "Alys" is probably directly rooted in the name Alice, which is rooted in the Old German name Adelaide (or, directly, Adelheidis), meaning "Nobility".
Behind the scenes[]
- The character Alys has only appeared in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to date, and does not make any appearance in the books.
