Ambrose[4] Turner was a wizard who was the father of Lottie Turner, an artist, and a butterfly Animagus.[2]
Biography[]
Ambrose used to say "you could tell a story with three colours and a good oxtail stippler", which meant a paintbrush.[2]
After his daughter Lottie was born, he often painted with her, and he would sometimes travel off to far places to paint. One of these travels was to the Swedish dragon reservation, but they didn't have the chance to paint at all because the annual broom race was taking place.[5] At some point, he drew himself in his butterfly Animagus form.[2] He also regularly had Lottie double check their teapot before pouring in hot water to ensure an Occamy wasn't hiding inside.[6]
During winters, he would go out with Lottie before everyone was up and build snowmen together, decorating them with scarves and hats. He would then enchant them to waltz. After they went home, he would make hot cocoa with mint, and bake cookies with Lottie.[7]
Ambrose put up a fight when confronted by Bly, a Dark wizard in search of the Turner family's heirloom, a brush, but was eventually murdered. After Bly was captured inside Hogwarts, his counterpart in a portrait transformed back to himself from the form of a butterfly and spoke with Lottie, allowing her to keep the brush.[2]
Magical abilities and skills[]
- Transfiguration: Ambrose was remarkably skilled in the art of Human Transfiguration that he was able to become an Animagus in the form of a butterfly,[2] an exceptional magical feat considering the difficulty and patience required in becoming one.
- Duelling: Ambrose managed to put up a strong fight against the Dark wizard Bly, showing he had a certain level of skill in duelling, although Bly overpowered and murdered him.[2]
- Artistic skills: Ambrose was a talented artist and would often paint portraits with his daughter Lottie.[2]
