Angus McKinnon was a wizard who was kidnapped, along with Elspeth McKinnon, by Lord Voldemort during the First Wizarding War, as he wanted to turn them to his side.[2] He had been killed by the end of the war.[1] Rubeus Hagrid thought highly of him.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- Like Elspeth, Angus McKinnon is mentioned in a very early draft of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling, but never made it into the final version of the book. Both he and Elspeth appear to have been merged into the character of Marlene McKinnon. However, the final text does make references to "the McKinnons" being killed, suggesting a family beyond Marlene. It is possible that, even if not being directly mentioned, Angus is a member of this wider McKinnon family, which, like most cut content drafts of the Harry Potter series, leaves the character's existence in a grey area.
