"Oh, its a simple enough anti-jinx, but it's not so much having to repair the damage, it's more the attitude behind the vandalism, Harry. Muggle-baiting might strike some wizards as funny, but it's an expression of something much deeper and nastier, and I for one —"

An anti-jinx is a type of spell that prevents the effects of a jinx over a target.

The Cleansweep Eleven is polished with an anti-jinx varnish.

In August 1995, Arthur Weasley was assigned to use one of these to solve the problem of the regurgitating toilets that had been set up by Willy Wildershins.[1]

Behind the scenes

  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter uses signs claiming that a building "currently has an anti-jinx in place" when one of the spell effects caused by the interactive wands sold at the park is malfunctioning.[2]
