This rhyme was sung by Modesty Barebone in 1926, New York. Its lyrics focused on anti-witchcraft and witch-hunting.[1]
Lyrics[]
My momma, your momma, gonna catch a witch,
My momma, your momma, flying on a switch,
My momma, your momma, witches never cry,
My momma, your momma, witches gonna die!
Witch number one, drown in a river!
Witch number two, got a noose to give her!
Witch number three, gonna watch her burn,
Witch number four, flogging take a turn.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- It is possible that Modesty's song foreshadows a particular deaths in the film series:
- Drowning: Corvus Lestrange (V) drowned in the Pacific Ocean in 1901
- Burnt to death: Leta Lestrange was burnt by Gellert Grindelwald's Protego Diabolica curse to death in 1927.
- Flogged to death: Mary Lou Barebone (although not a witch, she was descended from one) was flogged by Credence Barebone's Obscurus to death in 1926.
