History[]
Background[]
The rivalry between the Appleby Arrows and the Wimbourne Wasps was legendary and stretched back centuries, creating much animosity between the two teams.[1]
The match[]
At some point during the match, one of the Arrows' Chasers dodged a Bludger and accidentally caused a Snitchnip foul. Whilst the Wasps alerted the referee, one of the Wasps' fans witnessed the foul and jinxed the offending Chaser, which caused the fans to riot.[1]
The aftermath[]
The resulting riot caused several injuries and a British Ministry of Magic investigation was launched, led by the Auror Mad-Eye Moody. It was one of the worst Quidditch brawls ever recorded, causing a near-record breaking number of jinxed witches and wizards to turn up to both St Mungo's and the British Ministry of Magic Headquarters.[1]
