Some emergency legislation was passed by Archer Evermonde, the British Minister for Magic during the First World War. It forbade wizards from getting involved in the war as not to breach the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Regardless, thousands defied the law and continued to aid Muggles where they could.[1]
Known violators or condemners of the law[]
- Henry Potter, a member of the Wizengamot, publicly condemned the law, causing a minor stir at the time.[2]
- Theseus Scamander was a distinguished Auror during the war and gained a reputation as a "war hero" for his life-saving actions.[3]
- The Owl Airforce, an air force comprising owls, contributed greatly to the war effort in some way despite magical influences being illegal. Ukrainian Ironbellies were also tested out for the air force project with limited success.[4]
