The Aries symbol
Aries is one of the twelve astrological signs in the western zodiac.[1] Every year, the sun is in this sign from 21 March to 20 April, and those born during this period are considered Aries (also called Arians).[1] The Daily Prophet ran a horoscope for Aries and the other signs of the zodiac in the horoscope section featured on its back page by 1995.[2]
Traits[]
Aries were known to be highly motivated individuals. They had an intense desire to succeed and hated to be bored. As such, they were confident 'doers' who believed in taking action and thought they could achieve anything if they put their mind to it. Examples of Aries with this trait include Fred and George Weasley, born on 1 April, who became entrepreneurs of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes at a young age.[3]
They were natural optimists with a knack for finding the joy in the mundane. This was a common trait amongst those born under the Aries star sign — they went through life with unparalleled joie de vivre and a sense of optimism that others were often drawn to.[3]
Aries were the first sign of the zodiac, and as such, they demonstrated the confidence and self-assuredness expected of a pack's alpha. Some even questioned whether this star sign could be too confident. This self-belief was undoubtedly a trait evident in Fred and George. As Ginny Weasley once remarked, growing up with the twins meant "you sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve". They also loved to win. Whether it was a game of monopoly or a pub quiz, they simply had to come out on top. This was partly due to their nature as one of the fire signs, known for being passionate, assertive, and fiercely competitive.[3]
Those born under the Aries zodiac sign were known for their adventurous spirit – especially if that adventure came with a hint of danger. For an Aries, staying at home and doing nothing is their worst nightmare. James Potter was a great example, being a mischievous prankster at school and later joining the Order of the Phoenix. Like others with this star sign, he was spontaneous, fun-loving, and would never allow himself to be bored.[3]
