An armadillo is a small medium-sized mammal with a leathery armour shell. All species are native to the Americas, where they inhabit a variety of environments.[3]
History[]
During the 1988–1989 school year at Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall had her fifth-years use the Switching Spell to switch an armadillo with a pillow.[1] Armadillo to Pillow was a transfiguration spell which conversely transformed an armadillo into a pillow, rather than switching the two.[4]
Hannah Abbott used an armadillo provided by Hogwarts during a Transfiguation lesson while practising Vera Verto in the 1992–1993 school year, her second year.[2]
Armadillo bile was used as ingredient in several potions, such as the Wit-Sharpening Potion.[5][6][7] Armadillo Bile Mixture was the name of a potion with a presumably corrosive effect, that contained armadillo bile among other ingredients, mainly Armotentia.[8]
