Ashok Khanna was a wizard and Ravenclaw student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1990s. He was seen walking around the school during the 1993–1994 school year.[3]

Etymology[]

Ashok is a common name in India that means "not causing sorrow." Khanna is an Indian surname based on the name of a Khatri clan from the Punjab. According to great texts, Khatri (Khatris) are Suryavanshi and also Descendants of Lord Rama. Khatirs are Kshatriya.

Behind the scenes[]

  • This student was only featured in the console version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
  • Based on his name, it can be presumed that he is of Indian descent.
  • Due to the games being released independently, it is not specified if he is related to Rowan Khanna. However, Rowan mentions having a brother in passing, and Ashok is in an appropriate age range to fit the possibility of being said brother.
