Merula Snyde performing the dance
This imitation of a mating dance was invented by Jacob's sibling and their date to help an Augurey raised in captivity attract a mate.
History[]
The dance was devised by Jacob's sibling and their date, with the help of most of their friends, close to Valentine's Day in the late 1980s. Jacob's sibling had previously asked Silvanus Kettleburn for advice on Augurey mating dances, but received the news that knowledge of such dances was mostly unknown by wizardkind due to the complexities of the dance.
He told Jacob's sibling about the many ways that other magical birds dance to attract mates. Jacob's sibling subsequently went to Minerva McGonagall, who told them more about dance theory. They also went to Diego Caplan, who told them about confidence in dance. They used all this information combined to create the dance and taught it to Kettleburn's Augurey, who successfully managed to attract a mate.[1]
