Webster Boot - an early Auror for hire
An Auror for hire was a term used to describe an Auror who worked for private individuals, not for national bodies like the British Auror Office. The term was relatively new as Webster Boot, who lived during the 17th century, worked as an Auror for hire before the term would come into popular usage.[1]
History[]
After coming of age, Webster Boot travelled around the world working as an Auror for hire. It was during this work that he met his wife, who worked for the British Ministry of Magic.[1]
During the 1920s, the organisation Aurors Privés was based in the Place Cachée. They advertised themselves as 'Defence against the Dark Arts experts' and 'information gatherers' who worked on such cases as anti-broomstick tampering and work that involved concealment and disguise.[2]
