"Is this all real? Or has this been happening inside my head?"
The topic of this article is of a real-life subject that has been mentioned "in-universe" in a canon source. - "I remember my grandfather had an Axminster that could seat twelve — but that was before carpets were banned, of course."
- — Bartemius Crouch Snr[src]
An Axminster is a type of carpet, named after the town in which they were originally manufactured, notable for its high-quality loom and varying colours and patterns. Axminsters had been enchanted by wizards and witches for the purpose of turning them into flying carpets. However this practice was illegal as carpets were now designated as Muggle artefacts in Britain.[1]
Known owners[]
- Barty Crouch Snr's grandfather owned a twelve seat Axminster flying carpet before such carpets were outlawed by the Ministry of Magic.[1]
- The Muggle Prime Minister had a non-magical Axminster carpet in his office.[2]
