The Baboon is an African and Arabian Old World monkey belonging to the genus Papio.[2]
History[]
On 6 December 1926, Newton Scamander very briefly lost his wand to a baboon who had escaped from the Central Park Zoo in New York. He was able to retrieve it after the wand went off and flung the baboon backwards.[3]
On 1 September 1995, Ronald Weasley mockingly compared Gregory Goyle to a Baboon's backside to his friends on the Hogwarts Express, a joke which was well received by them.[4]
After Seamus Finnigan after accidentally knocked over Professor Filius Flitwick with a blast of water in Charms class, whilst practising the Water-Making Spell, Flitwick gave him lines as punishment, making him write "I am a wizard, not a baboon brandishing a stick".[5]
