- "Strange. That is a very specific cage. I've seen ones like it in Jakarta — in the black market — they sell baby animals there and it's all very appalling... Why would the Calamity steal a black market display cage? It just doesn't seem to fit."
- — Hermione Granger[src]
A Baby Niffler Cage was an enchanted cage used to contain baby Nifflers inside. Infant Nifflers were notoriously hard to keep in one place, as they were known to slip through even the smallest point of egress, so it was advised strongly to keep them in one of these cages with gold inside to distract them.[2]
History[]
By 1927, Newton Scamander kept one of these cages in the basement of his house 9 Sherringford Square, where he kept his magical beasts. His assistant Bunty Broadacre had to place several baby Nifflers back into their cage after they escaped.[1]
In the late 2010s/early 2020s, a Baby Niffler Cage became a Foundable during the Calamity. When the Statute of Secrecy Task Force managed to return this Foundable, Minister Hermione Granger recalled how she had seen several of these cages in a Jakarta wizarding black market, that kept baby beasts in appalling conditions.[2]
