The Backfiring Jinx (incantation unknown) was a jinx that when used backfired the spell onto the opposing caster.

In July 1996, the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects got wind of a "nasty" example of this jinx in Elephant and Castle, but it was sorted out by the Magical Law Enforcement Patrol before they arrived on the scene.[1]
