He failed to catch the Golden Snitch for his team in the 1927 Quidditch Cup, something which cost him his career as his team's star Seeker, which haunted him even after his death, as he returned as a ghost. After losing the said match, he hid the Snitch in Hogsmeade, having the Snitch become known as the Golden Snitch of Hogsmeade.[1]
By the 1987–1988 school year, he became friends with Murphy McNully, a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who was a Quidditch enthusiast. He was summoned by him to the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch one year, to offer advise to Jacob's sibling about game tactics. He told them about the Golden Snitch of Hogsmeade, how it cost him career and how we wanted to destroy the Snitch.[1]
