"You are in luck, Wormtail. You are very fortunate indeed. Your blunder has not ruined everything. He is dead."
Lord Voldemort talking to Peter Pettigrew after receiving the letter, sometime in 1995.[src]

This letter was written by Bartemius Crouch Jr. to Lord Voldemort sometime in 1995. In the letter, Crouch tells Voldemort that he has killed his father, Barty Crouch Sr. to prevent him from warning Albus Dumbledore that Voldemort was getting stronger.

Crouch Sr. had broken free of the Imperius Curse that had been placed on him by Voldemort, so he escaped by Stunning Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew) and fleeing to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Voldemort was furious and blamed it on Wormtail. However, Voldemort contacted Crouch Jr. (who was stationed at Hogwarts disguised as Alastor Moody by use of Polyjuice Potion) and ordered him to kill his father before he could warn Dumbledore. When Crouch Jr. did this, he sent the letter to Voldemort, and he "forgave" Wormtail, saying that his blunder had been repaired. He then proceeded to use the Cruciatus Curse on Wormtail, as a reminder that he would not tolerate another mistake from him.[1]
