- — The start of the battle[src]
The Battle on the Bridge[3] took place at the Viaduct, Hogwarts Castle, on 22 June 1991 between the Circle of Khanna and "R". The event saw the demise of the criminal organisation and final victory for the Circle of Khanna.[2]
History[]
This battle was fought by members of the Circle of Khanna, led by Jacob's sibling against members of the cabal "R", an organisation of Dark wizards led by their father Peregrine. "R" were attempting to infiltrate Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to capture an experienced Legilimens (probably Severus Snape) for their ranks.[2]
Members of the circle confronted various Dark wizards and witches at the end of the Viaduct, and the wizards started duelling each other. The seventh-year Hogwarts students overpowered all the adult Dark wizards and witches, however, Ben Copper and Jacob's sibling were unable to fully overpower Peregrine, who blinded everyone with a bright spell and ran towards Hogwarts. Jacob's sibling went after their father and caught up with him on the bridge. However, they were suddenly met with Verucca Buckthorn-Snyde and her niece Merula Snyde at the Viaduct who had arrived via Apparition. Verucca demanded Peregrine hand over Dai Ryusaki's cursed amulet which had been controlling his state of mind, to which he refused. She also informed him that she had assumed the role of the group's leader, usurping him from power. Jacob's sibling fought Verucca in a duel and defeated her, disarming her of wand. Her niece Merula abadoned her aunt, not breaking her Unbreakable Vow with her in the process, as she realised her "true family" were her friends at Hogwarts.[2]
In anger, Verucca denounced her niece and swore vegenance against them all, conjuring Fiendfyre after wandlessly summoning her wand, directing the cursed flames towards Peregrine. This caused him to fall from the Viaduct without his wand. Aurors from the British Ministry of Magic led by Alastor Moody soon arrived on the scene to arrest the defeated Dark wizards and witches to take them to Azkaban, including Verucca. Moody deduced that Peregrine would have likely not survived the fall from such a high height without his wand.[2]
