"Hello, class. Today I shall reveal to you the hidden magic of everyday books. And I don't mean the 'magic of reading' or any such nonsense. I'm speaking, of course, of Bibliomancy. Let's start at the beginning... Thanks to Bibliomancy, every book can be about you."

A book used in Bibliomancy

Bibliomancy was a branch of divination that involved opening a book on a random page, in order to interpret its contents in a contextual way, or to adapt its meaning to the present time.[1]

History

During the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Sybill Trelawney taught her sixth year students about the art of Bibliomancy in Divination class.[1]
