The Elizabeth Tower, more commonly known by its nickname Big Ben, is the name for the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster. It is a prominent London landmark.
The Dursley family owned an artwork of Big Ben by Nash. It was constructed out of watch parts, including hands, faces, and gears.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
"Big Ben" is technically the nickname of the Great Bell, the largest of the tower's five bells. However, it is commonly used to refer to the clock and, by extension, the entire clock tower.
The Tower was officially named in 2012 in honour of Queen Elizabeth II for her diamond jubilee year. Prior to 2012, it was officially called simply the Clock Tower.
