"Gone bird-watching in Wales."
—Notice of Closure for Eeylops Owl Emporium during the Christmas holidays in 1992[src]

Bird-watching (or ornithology) is a pastime which involves observing birds in their natural environments. It is an activity in which both Muggles[1] and wizardkind[2] engage in.

History

On 1 November, 1981, some bird watchers observed, and remarked on, the unusual behaviour of owls across the British Isles, due to the rapid wizarding communications concerning the Fall of Lord Voldemort.[1] During the Christmas holidays in 1992, the owner of Eeylops Owl Emporium went bird-watching in Wales.[2]
