A bow staff was a thick wooden stick which belonged to Durmstrang Institute and were traditionally used to perform the Durmstrang processional at the start of every Triwizard Tournament.[2] They magically left scorch marks every time they were stamped on the floor.[1]
History[]
The staff had been in use for some time before the 1792 Triwizard Tournament, as they were considered traditional even by that time.[2]
By the 1986–1987 school year, some bow staves had been left scattered around Hogwarts. The Durmstrang student Pieter Talli used these staffs to show Jacob's sibling how to perform the Durmstrang processional, before returning them to where he found them.[2]
A number of bow staffs were used by Durmstrang students when they arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the 1994–1995 Triwizard Tournament.[1]
